Kiran Suman-Chauhan is a research assistant at RAND Europe. Working primarily in the Defence and Security research group, his projects span the portfolio, including military capability and procurement, information operations, the impact of emerging technologies on Defence, and the Defence workforce. His primary research interests include military strategy and capability, maritime operations, and information operations in authoritarian states. Suman-Chauhan works primarily with qualitative research methods, including literature reviews, interviews and workshops.

Suman-Chauhan has previously worked with the British Army's Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research (CHACR). He contributed to a project exploring the consequences of poor strategic decision-making, and another that drew lessons on how to break stalemates from historical case studies.

Prior to joining RAND Europe, Suman-Chauhan studied at the University of Exeter, where he completed his B.A in history, and his M.A. in conflict, security and development. His M.A. included work on authoritarian conflict management in Central Asia and violent non-state actors, including their role in changing the character of warfare. His dissertation explored how the PRC has exploited historical narratives in their information operations.
